My Skincare routine

  • Igiena;
  • Alimentatia;
  • Produse potrivite nevoilor tale.

Igiena

Acum sa va spun cum imi curat eu tenul in profunzime.
In fiecare dimineata si seara, fara absolut nici o exceptie, imi curat tenul in profunzime cu Foreo si Bioderma Gel.

From my point of view, for a luminous, young and smooth skin, there are 3 main factors that I want to talk about, all equally as important. (I could mention more that 10 factors…among which is sport and controlling the stress level in your life, but I will resume to things that all of us can do without any extra effort in our already hectic and busy lives).
  • Hygiene;
  • Food habits;
  • Products that suit your skin.

Hygiene

I can’t even start to begin to say how important cleaning your skin is every morning and every evening (even if you don’t wear makeup). The pollution in the cities has reached a alarming level and it affects us in many ways, but now I am talking strictly about skin. Our skin is our body’s barrier against all kinds of pollution factors, either it’s dust, cleaning products or fuel gas, in time they all affect our skin’s appearance and that’s why we have to deep clean it and not just on the surface. All the dust/makeup that we have to deal with during the day not only stays on our skin, but also under it in our pores.
Now let me tell you how I deep clean my skin. Even if I use a lot of makeup during the day (just out of pure pleasure and passion), I don’t really have any issues with clogged pores, breakouts or a dull looking skin. I feel like all my life I have been searching for miracle face creams, but I have reached the conclusion that all of them are pretty much the same, the single difference being in the name. (except the natural ones that have the advantage of ingredients).
Every morning and every evening, without any kind of exception, I deep clean my skin with Foreo and the Bioderma gel. I bought this device in a period in which is was desperate, I had a lot of small and large breakouts, I never had such bumpy and uneven skin and I constantly tried to find out why, blaming either a cosmetic product, stress or hormones, but the truth is that I didn’t clean my face properly and my clogged pores just exploded.
I did a lot of research before I convinced myself to buy a over 100 euros device, I was torn between Foreo and Clarisonic, but what convinced me that Foreo is more suited for me is that I can use it daily, unlike the Clarisonic that you can use 1-2 times/week, but also because it doesn’t require future expense like the Clarisonic, where you have to buy a new head brush every 3 months because it builds up bacteria. Foreo is made out of a ultra-hygienic silicone material that resists bacteria buildup and it’s 35 more hygienic. Because of the sonic pulsations, the device removes 99.5% of dirt and oil, as well as makeup residue and dead skin cells, and exfoliats without irritating the skin.
How I do it: Firstly I remove all my makeup with Bioderma Sensibio H2O and cotton pads (make sure that you cotton pads are 100% made out of cotton and not polyester microfibers), then I wet my skin and the Foreo, I put a pump of Bioderma Gel on it and I start to massage my face. The device has a program of a few minutes, then it stops automatically, after that I apply my moisturizer, mask or serum.
I want to mention that now in my 30s my skin looks more healthy and clean than in my 20s and this is mostly because of the proper care, but also because of my eating habits. Believe it or not, I use to have 2-3 expression wrinkles on my forehead and smile area, but they are gone now and it’s all because of the Fore’s anti-age properties, it eliminates the dead skin and it activates the skin’s natural production of collagen. I don’t even know how to recommend it more, because it has not only changed my skin, but also my self confidence and that’s a big deal for me.
I do want to point out that cleaning your makeup brushes/tools is also very important because they build a lot of bacteria. I clean them with a antibacterial bar of soap, my foundation and powder brush at least once every 2 uses, and the rest of my shadow brushes once a week. I clean my Beauty Blender every single morning so that I can also use it damp.

Alimentatia

In perioada in care mama s-a imbolnavit si m-am intors in Bacau, am inceput sa ma documentez despre alimentatie, am invatat sa gatesc, am citit cateva carti foarte bune printre care si Studiu China si usor usor mi-am schimbat stilul de viata.

Food habbits

Another very important factor in our skins appearance is our day to day habits and lifestyle. Thinking about another great improvement that my skin experienced is when I stopped smoking and eating frequently at fast foods. I started smoking now and then with my entourage when I was in high school, but once I left for college I started smoking a lot, mainly because my parents were not around anymore (they were non smokers and would punish me if they had the slightest idea that I has smoking). To be honest I don’t even know what affected my skin more, the fact that I was smoking or the fact that I ate so bad, only junk food, coke, KFC, you name it, I didn’t abstain from nothing (about 10kg came after) and of course you could see the lifestyle on your skin because your body tries to detoxify. (I inserted a photo of me then I was 21, it’s obvious that I had a messy lifestyle, from my eyes to my belly, a image of me that does not represent who I am and in my opinion I look much older than today).
In the period in which my mother got sick and I returned in my hometown, I started to learn about food and how it affects our body’s, I learned how to cook, I read a few good books like The China Study and slowly I changed my lifestyle. Also when I returned home I noticed that my weight was way over my ideal one, it was a nightmare for me to wear shorts in the summer or heels…so I began to go to the gym and to let go of my bad habits like smoking and fast food. In one summer I lost about 10 kg. (I will talk more in another post about food and fitness, because it’s a getting pretty long:). Don’t think that now I’m like a monk and don’t eat anything tasty, I eat burgers and pizza and KFC, more so if I go on a holiday or a short trip, but I do it very rarely and I only drink water even if I eat at a fast food or restaurant, I never order a soda. (a glass of soda has about 10 tbs of sugar!)
I do think that sugar is our healths and skins greatest enemy. Today a average person consumes about 22 tbs of sugar/day, in just 2 soda drinks, the equivalent of 39 kg of sugar/year. It’s really concerning, taking in consideration that in the past the average sugar consumption was of 2 kg/year and this was mainly from natural and healthy sources, not from processed foods that we find in stores today.
The consumption of sugar in excess not only does make us more sick faster, but it also makes us age faster. I consume the limit of 2 tbs of sugar per day just in my coffee, but during the day I opt for sugars from fruits that also help my body like kiwi for vitamin C, blueberries and pomegranate for antioxidants, goji berries and chia seeds for the numerous anti-age properties.
I also want to mention the great importance of water consumption, I drink almost 4-5 liters of water/ day and I do feel like it helps me with my metabolism, keeps my skin luminous and overall keeps me healthy.
What I want to say is that if you are healthy and clean on the inside, it shows on the outside. There are many useful articles on this topic on the internet, you just have to gain interest and search for them and also apply them.
For instance, the last couple of days I had some guests and I wanted to spoil them with all kind of home sweets like panna cotta, muffins, lava cake….and it immediately showed on my face.

I know haha…

Produsele mele

  • fa tot posibilul sa ai un stil de viata cat mai sanatos, cu un consum de cat mai putin zahar si cat mai putine tigari (sau deloc);
  • ai grija sa dormi suficient de mult (cel putin 9 ore) si nu uita ca cel mai odihnitor somn este acela intre orele 22:00 pm si 1:00 am;
  • consuma cel putin 4 litrii de apa pe zi (adica apa nu tot felul de lichide:P:);
  • obisnuieste-te sa folosesti produse de ingrijire a tenului mai naturale care chiar sa fie benefice;
  • ai grija ca zi de zi sa consumi cat mai multi antioxidanti, din afine, goji, chia, etc;
Kisses!

Products I use

(I’m mentioning that I have a normal to mixed complexion, with a very oily T zone, but my cheeks and eyes are very dry)
My daily moisturizer. I use the moisturizer from DermOrganic, I’m already on the 3rd tube and I don’t feel the need to change it with anything else. It has good and natural ingredients, it has anti-age properties and it sits very well under makeup. Over time I used many creams, some very expensive, but I never felt like they did something special for my skin, like I said, ever since I use Foreo, my skin behaves to good and I don’t feel the need for “miracle creams”, all that matters to me is that it’s natural and anti-age. It’s also very important that at least one face product  has sun protection, for me my Estee Lauder foundation has sun protection, but in the summer when I know I’m going to stay in the sun, I apply at least a SPF 30 cream on my face and neck.
My over night cream: I use the Caudalie Resveratrol Lift, it has hyaluronic acid, peptides  and resveratrol. I like it very much, it’s very nourishing and I feel my skin very good and firm in the morning. I don’t think there is a Caudalie product that I didn’t like, I used most of them and they are very good, non of them irritated my skin. I also use from time to time at night a face spray from Mario Badescu, it contains rosewater, aloe and herbs, it smells divine and I use it also as a makeup setting spray, it leaves my makeup more natural looking.
My eye cream: The list of eye products and treatments that I used is very long, from Clinique to Ole Henriksen, Rexaline, Caudalie, Estee Lauder, Weleda, Kiehl’s…..and so on. My eyes are pretty dry with some fine lines, inevitable with time, and I need a very nourishing eye cream that can maintain my eye area hydrated all day and all night long. Of all off them that I used, the most nourishing is the Weleda Skin food, it has a pretty thick consistency and it’s kind of sticky, but it’s just what I need and it behaves so good under makeup also.
My Masks: I apply a mask twice a week, usually a nourishing one and a clay one. At the moment I have 2 brands from which I buy my masks, Caudalie and Apivita, but I’m sure most of the natural ingredients masks are good.
All the products that I mentioned work for me, I may find in the future more products that I love, but I will keep you updated. I have never been to a salon to do facials or other treatments, to be honest I don’t enjoy going to a salon and I consider that what I do at home is more than enough (for now at least). I know that all of us are very different and not all products work the same for us, so my general advices for a great skin are:
  • do the best that you can do to have a healthy lifestyle, with a very low consumption of sugar and the less you smoke the better;
  • make sure to sleep for at least 9 hours and don’t forget that the best rest that your body has is between 22:00 pm and 1:00 am;
  • drink at least 4 liters of water/ day (and I mean just water, not liquids:P);
  • get used to use more natural skincare products that actually help your skin;
  • make sure that you consume antioxidants, from blueberries, goji, chia…;
  • deep clean your skin and keep your makeup brushes clean.
I know you maybe expected a different kind of skincare post and I started rambling about lifestyle, but I don’t see the point of throwing in your face all kind of products, because in my experience it has no sense if you use a 5$ natural cream or a 200$ LaMer cream if they fight head to head with bad habits. But at the end of the day, your life is your own and no one can tell you what to do, all that matters is that you are happy!
Kisses
